| Kara Zor-El dies during the events depicted in the 1985 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths. After the publication of Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC Comics rebooted Superman continuity, making Superman the sole survivor of Krypton's destruction. For nearly 20 years, several different characters took the name Supergirl, although none of them were actually Superman's cousin. A version of Kara Zor-El was re-introduced into modern continuity in 2004. |
